The magic of a sunset is enhanced at several thousand feet. The turbulent air created by the sun is calmed by the cooling air as nightfall approaches. Cities come alive at night, as they turn on their lights.
Departing Ocean City, MD, a nice short-hop destination from Philly. The beach is only a short bike-ride away. Cabs are also prevalent. My favorite aspect of beaches in the northeast is the boardwalk phenomenon. Miles of boardwalk stretch across the length of shore providing an easy stroll for shopping, restaurants, and just enjoying the scenery.
A few short blocks from the Ocean, the airport at Ocean City, NJ truly lives up to its name. Tie-down is currently $12 for the day (2016). Expect crosswinds!

Ocracoke is an Island notoriously frequented by Blackbeard the Pirate (more history). The airport is conveniently located next to a beautiful white-sand beach. Landing here is easy-peasy. A nearby restaurant (Howard’s Pub & Raw Bar) monitors the unicom frequency (122.9), and will come pick you up during operating hours if you ask.
